Happy Valentine's Day, sweethearts!
I hope you got to indulge on some yummy chocolates today.

One of the best things about participating in Bloggers Do It Better and Everybody Everywear is trying different fashion trends.  Last Valentine's Day (pre-blogging), I would have never thought to wear pink and red together.  So thank you blogging community for these fun events, allowing me to experiment with my closet!

Playing with color blocking is one of my favorite things.  Since BDIB's theme this month is "red" I swapped my white cardi out for a red one, which surprisingly changed the whole look of my outfit.  Before I started blogging I did not own a single pink article of clothing.  None.  I had the misconception pink was for sorority girls and children. I had it all wrong, admittedly.

Mr. Granola made reservations at our favorite restaurant in town.  Unfortunately I have a cold so I could barely taste anything.  Oh well.  But we did have a lot of fun and I felt so festive wearing pink and red.

Here are some other pretty ladies showing off their Valentine day looks.  Please take a moment to check out their blogs and send some love their way :)

H&M Color Block Dress & Missoni for Target Cardigan

Hautelook bracelets

In honor of this month's Everybody Everywear, I wore this to work today and loved it because I had plenty of room to eat dinner with my colleagues!  This H&M dress was purchased recently and it's so comfortable.  I love the colorblocking and because it's not stark white, rather a soft ivory, it's more flattering with my skin tone and gold details.  Oh and don't be scared to mix Target and Chanel- it can be done!

See that first pic of me pulling on my sleeve?  Sometimes I pretend-pull-on-my-sleeves for pictures, but I really am pulling on my sleeve this time because they're just too long.  I've looked into getting this Target for Missoni sweater altered, but it's not an easy job and I don't want to pay up the wahoo for it to be done.  So I'll just keep pulling on the sleeves in real life and in photos.

Some of my favorite submissions include:
1) La Vie Petite- The fact that she made that skirt makes her hands down, super cool.
2) The Fabulous Life Of....- I love how she looks so chic and casual at the same time.
3) Confessions of a Wannabe Fashionista-  I'm just in love with her jacket and I'm a huge fan of KDot.

Sequins Aren't Just For the Holidays Anymore: Red Tights and Wool Skirt

Thank goodness for Christmas and New Years so I can wear sparkles, sequins, and more shiny stuff!  This month's Everybody Everywear of Sequins + Sparkles had me thinking I really don't own too many sequin pieces.  So of the few I had I whipped this outfit together and plan on wearing it out this weekend.  Then, in reviewing the EBEW submissions, I realized sequins can and should be worn year round.

SHOP:  top Michael Stars (similar)   /   Skirt JCrew (similar)   /   Tights ModCloth   /   Shoes Nordstrom (similar)   /   Jewelry- JCrew, Neiman Marcus, Etsy

Some of my favorite submissions include:
1) Penny Pincher Fashion- How stunning is that green sweater?  Loves the gunmetal skirt!
2) An American Girl- I really like how she's paired a casual blazer over a drapey tank.
3) Ruffles & Sequins-  What an adorable flirty skirt- and who doesn't love ombre?

Sequins + Sparkles | Everybody, Everywhere

Now more than ever, I love the fact that sequins can be worn year round.  Glad that lightbulb went off.
Do you think sequins are fitting year round?
